Our Vision & Roots
Haven Beer Company was created with a clear and enduring vision: to establish a refined, welcoming gathering place rooted in the character and spirit of Hamden and the greater New Haven community.
The concept and design were developed by Kevin Fitzsimmons and Bob Chicoine, whose partnership began following the opening of Dockside Brewery in Milford, Connecticut. Building on that foundation, they were soon joined by local businesspeople Tom Cappas and John “JT” Torello. Together, the ownership group shares deep ties to Hamden, Quinnipiac University, and the surrounding region—connections that continue to shape the identity and purpose of Haven.

It is a space that reflects the fabric of Hamden—thoughtfully bringing together individuals from across the community in an atmosphere of connection and ease.
Haven reflects the pride of its surroundings. It draws inspiration from Hamden’s distinct charm and the energy of Quinnipiac University and other surrounding colleges, blending tradition with a forward-looking perspective. The result is a space that feels both polished and familiar—equally suited for casual gatherings, meaningful celebrations, and everything in between.
